The Housing Management Division of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) recognized Springwood for its management achievements at Springwood Overlook, York, PA, and at Silver Spring Courtyards and Silver Spring Gardens, Cumberland County, PA. The engraved awards were presented at the 2009 PennDel AHMA Fall Management Conference in Dover, Delaware on October 28, 2009.

This prestigious award is presented to properties that score “Excellent” on their annual property management reviews and inspections by Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. Only 5% of more than 1,000 eligible properties in Pennsylvania received this award. Springwood President David Hogg commented, “I’m pleased that our outstanding management team has been recognized for its achievement. I believe they are the best in the Commonwealth at what they do. They deserve these awards.”

Springwood has also been recognized for pioneering green building construction in affordable housing in Pennsylvania. In 2003 it began building complexes heated and cooled entirely by groundwater-source heat pumps. These green systems have reduced total energy consumption at several Springwood complexes by half over conventional methods. Westminster Place at Stewartstown, starting construction in about a month, will be the next Springwood facility to have this energy-saving technology. Westminster Place at Stewartstown will be Springwood’s first joint venture with Presbyterian Senior Living of Dillsburg, PA.
