The hotel development division of Springwood Real Estate Services of York Township, PA today announced that it is preparing to start construction of an 86 guest room Country Inn & Suites by Carlson® hotel near Hershey, PA. The new facility will be located at the signalized intersection of Hershey Road (Route 39) and Grandview Drive, about a mile from the entrance to Hersheypark and the Giant Center, and only two blocks from the AACA Museum.Springwood put the site under contract in December 2005, and has been working ever since to develop a hotel on the property. Final land development plan approval was received from South Hanover Township in late April 2008. The new facility will feature 31 one-bedroom suites, 51 queen/queen guest rooms, 4 king whirlpool suites, an indoor pool and spa, a fitness center and a conference room.
“The home-style atmosphere and the true one-bedroom suites will provide a refreshing upgrade for the Hershey visitor who is looking for spacious accommodations at affordable prices,” said David H. Hogg, president of the development company.
This will be Springwood’s fourth hotel in central Pennsylvania. It controls the Holiday Inn Express and the Comfort Inn in York, and it is under construction with a Homewood Suites by Hilton® in York, as well. “We don’t plan to stop at four,” says Hogg. “We already have another on the drawing board, and we are looking for other, profitable opportunities all the time. Our preference is to stay within an easy drive of our Central PA headquarters.”
